Artisan Ghanaian Mask No.2

A beautiful large standing mask, hand crafted in an artists' community north of Accra, Ghana. A bird is embossed across the forehead in recycled and scrap metal, surrounded by traditional African patterning, on a body carved from Tweneboa - the local African cedar.

West African masks traditionally blend animal and human characteristics and were worn in ceremony and dance to connect the living with the ancestors. Owning one today means holding a piece of that living story, made by carvers continuing a centuries-old craft.

This mask is a one-off - individually carved, with exactly one available.

Fair Trade and ethically sourced. Free standing, so it works on a mantelpiece or shelf as well as a wall.
