Artisan Ghanaian Mask No.5

A beautiful large mask, hand crafted in an artists' community north of Accra, Ghana. Carved from Tweneboa - the local African cedar - its outer edge is worked with traditional African patterns, and any metal used is recycled or scrap.

Across West Africa, masks blend animal and human characteristics and carry enormous cultural weight: worn in ceremony and dance, they were believed to connect the living with the spirits of the ancestors, and they remain storytellers of African history today.

Each of these masks is a one-off. There is exactly one of this design, so please order only one.
