Double Caxixi

Twice the caxixi, twice the sound. This traditional Ghanaian instrument joins two handwoven cane basket shakers into a single unit, doubling the crisp, sizzling rattle of the classic caxixi.

Play it by shaking, or tap it gently against your free hand for sharper accents - the two baskets answer each other with a fuller, denser sound than a single shaker can produce, which is exactly why percussionists reach for doubles when they need more presence in the mix.

Each one is woven by hand in Ghana, so patterns and colours vary from shaker to shaker.
