Televi Shekere Style Shaker

A shekere in miniature. This Ghanaian shaker is built around a televi nut encased in a hand-tied net strung with dozens of colourful beads - hold it by the neck, shake and slap it between hand and leg, and it delivers the bright 'chichichi' rattle that sits so naturally alongside djembe rhythms.

At around 21cm it is far more portable than a full gourd shekere, which makes it a favourite for drummers who want that sound without the bulk, and a friendly first shaker for children.

Each one is handmade in Ghana and individually beaded, so colours and patterns vary.
